This is what did it for me. I was interested in the FLDS, Scientologist and Amish and by reading a number of books about them I realized that I was under mind control too. Very interesting video.

A question for those that have been around this board for a long time
by JeffT inmy wife and i stopped going to meetings in 1988 and da'd in 1989. for a few years we both actively participated in the xjw world, she quit doing that a long time ago, and has pretty much completely moved on.
the other night i told her about my planned blog (which will probably launch this weekend) it will mostly be about my writing, a lot of which is mostly about jw related issues.
she asked why i am still so drawn to this subject.

I have been on for less than a year but I have found this to be a very comforting place to be. I am thankful to all of you who have provided wonderful and encouraging info. Some need to continue to encourage others and then there are those that don't need to continue reading and contributing. It is a very personal journey and we each handle it in different ways. I too like to keep informed on what is new in JW land. We still have some more people we are trying to help out so it is good to keep up to date. I admire all of you that have put so much time and energy into public forums, blogs and other writings in order to inform us of what the TTATT really is!

I hope all goes well for you Julia. I too have some of the same health issues and they have gotten so much better since I walked away and I hope yours do too. It is amazing how the control of this religion has a huge impact on many of the members health, I have never seen a group of people so mentally and physically sick. My husband was a born in and I was able to get him to read Ray Franz's book and he came out with me. Yes, we have lost a lot of friends but there are so many good people out there to make new friends with who have a healthier outlook on life. Do your research on helping your husband see the truth. Read Steve Hassen's books and it will help you get him out too so you can have a rewarding life together.

he is a fascinating, intelligent person and has an intimate knowledge of the destructiveness the watchtower society has wreaked upon people's lives due to shunning, the blood ban, etc.. some two years in the making, this full-length documentary film entitled "truth be told" seeks to expose the watchtower for what it is.
a debut screening for the public will take place in brooklyn new york on march 27, 2013. other major cities will follow.

No, last year was the last one for us. I had a panic attack and when I left that night I knew something was terribly wrong with this religion and we went to one more meeting and one day of the DC and that was it for us.

Hang in there, it does get better. You should be proud of yoyrself for taking control of your life at a young age. You have a wonderful life ahead of you, live it and enjoy it being true to yourself. Don't blame yourself for your father stepping down. Find a good support system because you will need it. Best wishes to you.
